A nationwide cell phone ban in the US is being recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on December 13, 2011. The proposed cell phone ban is due to increasing distraction-related accidents while driving which alarmed NTSB, according to international reports on that same day.

The cell phone ban recommendation is a result of an investigation pertaining to last year’s car accident in Missouri. According to NTSB press release on December 13, 2011, their investigation revealed that the 19-year-old pickup driver sent and received 11 text messages in the 11 minutes immediately before the car collission. The last text was received moments before the pickup struck the truck-tractor.

Deborah A.P. Hersman, NTSB Chairman discussed the proposed cell phone ban during a press conference after a meeting regarding the Missouri incident.

“According to NHTSA, more than 3,000 people lost their lives last year in distraction-related accidents. It is time for all of us to stand up for safety by turning off electronic devices when driving. No call, no text, no update, is worth a human life,” said Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman as quoted in a report.

A 4-inch leech was discovered living inside a 16-year old Chinese boy’s windpipe, according to 3news.co.nz.

Tao Jiayuan complained of a sore throat two months ago and his mom just thought that he had just caught a cold and gave him some medicine but it did not work.

His parents decided to have him checked in the hospital after the boy gradually lost weight and had trouble in breathing.

Doctors then found the real reason of Tao’s conditon, a 10-centimetre-long leech living on Tao’s windpipe. In this connection, an operation was performed to remove the leech at Nan’an Division of Yibin No. 2 Hospital, in Yibin City in southwest China’s Sichuan province, according to reports.

Reports also said that the leech was still alive and unaffected by the anaesthetic the doctors had given to the boy.

Dr. Chen Bing who was in-charge of the operation said in the reports that it is possible for leeches to stay alive in a human’s nasal cavity or throat.

Leeches are commonly found in fresh water environments such as creeks, rice fields and ponds.

“He must have drunk stream water when working in the field,” Tao Chuanhua, the boy’s father told the reporters.

King James Bible celebrated its 400th anniversary participated by Queen Elizabeth II as reported earlier. The Bible’s anniversary was celebrated through a special service led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams at England’s famed Westminster Abbey.

During the special service Dr. Williams gave imphasis on the importance of the King James Version to every future translator attempting to keep the Bible modern and relevant.

“People are always surprised how much of the language they use without thinking. It’s just the genius of the language, they were contemporaries of Shakespeare, they could have walked over to the Globe and asked him what he thought,” Professor Pauline Croft, a trustee of the King James Bible Trust was quoted saying in a report.

Meanwhile, the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr. John Hall, said that the Bible’s impact was not immediately recognized and it took some time to establish itself.

King James Bible 400th Anniversary was attended by 2,000 worshippers together with the queen’s husband Prince Philip, and son, Prince Charles. King James Bible was said to have played a significant achievement for England.

To begin with my first post for this blog, let me share to you some ways on how to earn from blogging. There are many ways to earn online, you just need to distinguish those online opportunities if it is a legitimate or a scam sites.

Blogging is one way to earn money online. There are two ways to earn money through blogging. First is the Passive way of earning while the second one is the Active way.

Passive Way of Earning – When we say “Passive” it’s a way of earning that you received in a regular basis with little effort required to maintain it. You earn even if you are watching TV or you are sleeping. While…

Active Way of Earning – It’s a way of earning that needs your direct attention or participation for you to receive your earnings. Most often, you need to complete a tasks or a job before you can earn. No complete tasks done means no earnings at all.

Passive income generating campaign:

Adsense is the best source of Passive income that most bloggers are currently using in their blogs. It enables website publishers or owners to display targeted Google ads on their websites. It’s a Pay Per Click (PPC) type of program where you are paid for every click generated from your site. Minimum payout is $100 and payment can be through check, western union or bank transfer.

Adbrite is another PPC type of program. It is similar to adsense. They pay on a net-60 basis through check only. They recommend to set your payment amount to $100 most especially if you are an international publisher. If Adsense is not working well for you, you can try Adbrite.

Bidvertizer is also a Pay Per Click program similar to Adsense and Adbrite. Payments are sent via check or PayPal on a monthly basis within 30 days after the end of each calendar month. Minimum payout is $10. The only difference of bidvertiser to other PPC program is that, they have referral incentives.

Infolinks is an In-Text advertising. In-text-ads is a method of advertising that inserts text links advertisements within the content of a blog. It is usually in a double line hyperlink. Minimum payment is $50 and paid through Paypal, Bank wire, and Infolinks Prepaid Mastercard powered by Payoneer.

ClickBank is an affiliate program where you promote products and earn commissions everytime you make a sale. Promoting products means, you can make a post about it, or just simply place a banner of the product in your blogs sidebar. If someone purchase through your hoplink, you earn up to 75% commission. Payments are through check, direct deposits for US affiliates and some international affiliates and wire transfer payment. Payment threshold should reach $100 before they can process your payment.

Peerfly is also an affiliate program similar to Clickbank. You earn money every time you make a sale with the products that you promote. They have a referral program that is not available in Clickbank. You also earn every time your referral makes a sale with the products that he or she promotes. If you’re interested you can sign up here.

CPALead this is one of my favorite money making campaign aside from Adsense. CPALead is a Cost Per Action program that hides your premium content to the reader. Before they can access your content, they need to complete a short survey. Completion of survey means money to you. Payments are through Paypal and the minimum threshold is $100. You can sign up here, signing up is free.

Leadbolt is similar to CPAlead. It is also a Cost-Per-Action campaign. It’s a good alternative for CPAlead if your account with them got banned. You can sign up here.

Active income generating campaign:

Paid-To-Click (PTC) Sites- This type of campaign is different with Pay-Per-Click campaign like Adsense. With PTC or paid-to-click, you need to click a certain site/ads before you can earn money. Easy? Here’s the catch, for every click you made you’ll just get 0.05 – 0.20 cents per click and for every PTC sites you only get 5-10 ads/site to click. You need to wait a certain time for you to be able to click again those ads. For me, it’s time consuming and the effort you are doing is not enough for what you get with this type of program. If you don’t click any ads for a day, you will not earn from it. So everyday, you need to keep your mouse busy clicking those ads. The worst is, most of this PTC sites are scam sites. This is just to warn you, you can go ahead and try this program but always do it with caution. This kind of program may not work for me but who knows, this will work for you.

Blogsvertise is a paid to blog campaign. I have tried this one before and they really pay. You need to register your blog in Blogvertise and once approved, the blogvertise administrator will assign writing tasks for you to write in your blog. Your written task will be reviewed for approval. Payment for each task varies from $4 – $25 per entry. So if you have 10 approved tasks at $5 dollar each, you will earn $50 dollars for that already. Payments are sent through paypal.

Mylot is a special kind of social networking site. In mylot, you can earn money by participating in some discussions that other mylotters have created or by creating your own discussions. It’s not a big sum of money that you will earn but others find mylot interesting because they get to learn some interesting things and ideas. If you want to try mylot you can join here.

These are just some of the online opportunities I know. If you wish to join in any of the above mentioned campaign, please don’t forget to read their TOS so you know what to do and not to do, to avoid your account from being banned. I will be blogging more on my succeeding posts. Just visit this blog regularly for you to be updated.
